Painting of Rue de l’Abreuvoir
I finished this commission painting. It was a 24×24 inch acrylic painting of Rue de l’Abreuvoir in Paris, France. To see more photos of that painting and read about its process just head over to my article on that! The Making of Rue de l’Abreuvoir Paris
This week also marks the point where I finally finished the commission works I had on the order list! I am now free to paint what I desire and build up my gallery a bit more. Now don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy doing commission works. It’s awesome to be able to create a scene that someone specifically wants. But it does take away time from other ideas that I would like to explore.
I have been wanting to explore doing more landscape, nature, and animals painting so I started two new paintings in that regime this week!
New Paintings in Progress
The first is a fox. I have seen a few other paintings of foxes and have loved them so I thought I would paint one of my own. In this one, I will be focusing more on just the animal itself and working on the fine details to create fur and realistic facial features. As of now I have just drawn out the fox and done the first layering of the fur.
The second painting I started is focusing more on the landscape feature but also on full body animal details. It is a 22×28 painting of a Mule Deer in the foothills of Southern Alberta with a small mountain range behind. I wanted to also work on creating more dynamic skies so I have been spending more time working on the clouds creating more depth and contrast. It has been a challenge but I have learned a lot. Weekly Inspiration
Each week I will be posting a photo of two that I have taken from where I am living, or possibly a photo I have taken in the past, that can be used as inspiration for art, or just general inspiration.
This week the photos were both taken in Quebec, as that is where we are now living. The first was taken right in Quebec City at an old car festival and the second was taken by a stream close to Mount Sainte-Anne which is about a half an hour drive north-east from Quebec City.
