ORIGINAL PAINTING INFORMATION
This is a mixed media artwork of Cameron Lake in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada. It is both wood burned and acrylic painted on a piece of pine wood that ranges in size from 7×11 inches to 24×36 inches.
Cameron Lake is one of my favourite spots in all of Waterton Lakes National Park. The drive to get there is in a beautiful valley with mountains on both sides. At the lake, you can rent canoes and other small boats to enjoy the views from the water. I have kayaked to the end and back a few times and always enjoy the peace and quiet out in the middle of the lake. At the end of the lake, there is often snow that stays all year round.
The art is made to order so the processing time is 2-8 weeks. This time mainly depends on the size of painting ordered. Smaller paintings take 2-3 weeks while larger paintings take 4-8 weeks.
The final product may vary slightly from the photos above as it is made to order but it will be as close as possible to the original.
The photos above are of the 7×11 version.
My process to make these pieces is as follows:
- Draw on the lines with pencil
- Burn in the lines with a wood-burning tool
- Paint in the spaces with acrylic paint
- Burn the edges of the wood with a blow torch
- Seal the piece with a clear gloss covering
If you would like a larger version of this piece done, just send me a message at brian@briansloanartist.com and we can work out the details. I can go as large as 24×36 inches!
You can watch the time-lapse video here of a similar piece where I show the whole process in about 7 minutes!
