How To Paint – Snowy Lakeside Cabin – Step By Step Acrylic Painting Tutorial
Are you learning to paint? Looking for some easy tutorials? I’ll take you step-by-step through a series of paintings and teach along the way. In this painting, we are doing a snowy lakeside cabin. I will show you from beginning sketches to the final brush stroke how to paint this calming scene.
It is based off of a cabin/lodge at Emerald Lake in Alberta, Canada.
Materials:
- 8×10 canvas
- 1 inch flat brush
- 1/4 inch flat brush
- 1/2 inch bristle flat brush
- Fan brush
- 0 round brush
Paint:
- Titanium White
- Mars Black
- Payne’s Gray (can use black with a little blue if needed)
- Hooker’s Green Hue Permanent
- Burnt Umber (a brown that isn’t quite as dark as raw umber)
- Raw Umber (dark brown)
- Yellow Ochre
- Primary Yellow (not really needed)
- Red Oxide

- 15:02 – Trees – Background and Foreground
- 32:27 – Cabin
- 49:09 – Shoreline
- 52:50 – Reflection
- 1:02:08 – Finishing touches on cabin and trees
