Anthrodesk Ergonomic High-Back Office Chair Review

Watch the video review above or read the article below of this chair from the company who brought you the standing desk and standing desk converters! Anthrodesk is a great Canadian company! This chair has increased my productivity, helped improve my posture, and decreased my back pain from having to sit at a desk for so long each day!

I have also reviewed one of their standing desk converters if you want to check that article out as well: https://www.briansloanartist.com/anthrodesk-sliding-standing-desk-converter-review/

First Impressions:

When I first saw the box that the chair came in and felt the weight of it, I knew it had to be of good quality. Upon opening the box, I wasn’t disappointed. Though some of the smaller pieces seemed to have got jumbled around pretty good during shipment, the majority of the pieces were all securely packaged in cardboard and bubble wrap.

I am always willing to support Canadian companies so the fact that Anthrodesk is Canadian, gave me more hope that this product would live up to its name.

Being an artist and a teacher, I spend a lot of time in office chairs when working from both home and school. My initial thoughts on the design gave me hope that this chair would provide the proper back support so that even if I had a lot of work to do, I wouldn’t be as sore as usual after getting up.

You can watch the video above or read more below about the assembly, my review, and final thoughts.

Assembly:

The assembly I would say was a 4/5 for easy. The diagrams on the instruction sheet were pretty easy to follow. However, some parts I really had to double-check to make sure I wasn’t making a mistake. There almost seemed to be too many holes on the bottom of the chair for what I needed to do but not all the holes were shown on the diagrams which threw me off a little.

I always appreciate when there are extra small pieces such as an extra washer, or screw. In this case, there was an extra piece of each of the small components. It can with two Allen keys that were needed. Then on the bottom of one of the Allen keys, there was the head of the screwdriver that was needed for the screws. It is so nice to not have to go rummaging through the toolbox when receiving a put together product in the mail.

Overall, the chair took about half an hour to put together by myself. For some, it would probably take less time and for others maybe a little bit more.

Review:

Immediately after sitting in the chair for the first time, I knew it promoted good posture and will be great for working at a desk and painting at an easel. The cushion is soft but not unsupportive. The curve and lower back support were great. The adjustable headrest cradled my head like no other office chair I have ever used.

There are many adjustable components that I appreciated in this chair. The headrest can move up and down then be tilted as well. The chair can move up and down. The armrests have a good range of moving up and down. And the tension in the chair can be adjusted so it can lean back a bit.

The parts of the chair seem to be well built and of good quality. Though many parts are of hard plastic, it doesn’t feel cheap.

The chair rolls very smoothly. This is perhaps one of the most important things for me. I can’t stand when chairs don’t roll nicely.

The only thing I think people might not like about this chair is the height adjustability. I am about 5’10” and I felt the most comfortable at the lowest setting. You can see in the video that I show this. So I would imagine that anyone shorter than me (or that has shorter legs) might feel that this chair is too tall for them even on its lowest setting.

Final Thoughts:

Overall this seems to be a great quality chair. I think it will definitely help with my posture and healthy living while working from it. The back support and the overall build of the chair really impressed me. I know I will be able to be more productive while using it!
